Now that are ready to start filling in your log sheet and map. You probably want to know what is an activity that would count for 1%.
Activity or 1% is any activity that gets your child out and active, preferrably for 45 minutes. It is something that excites your child, gets them moving, and of course is fun. An activity can also be a practice for a sport or even outside recess.
Examples of Activity that should count as 1%:
- Running with a parent or friends for about one mile
- Playing basketball with friends
- Riding your bike around the neighborhood
- Soccer practice for your rec team
- A soccer game, either for fun or on a team through MSC Rec program
- Swimming for fun or for practice on a swim team
- Playing tag with friends outside for about 45 minutes
- Going for a walk with your dog
- Playing baseball in the park
- A flag football game through One Goal Sports
- Gymnastics
- Participating in a Try Boro event or clinic
- ...and anything else that you, as a parent, feels should count as an activity
Examples of Activity that should NOT count as 1%:
- Walking in the mall
- Playing xBox or other games
- Watching TV
- Going to the store with parents
- Eating dinner
- Any normal walking in the day (activity should be above and beyond normal routines)
- ...anything else that does not promote activity and fitness
